Get ready for liftoff! NASA's SpaceX Crew-12 mission is set to embark on an extraordinary journey to the International Space Station, carrying four brave astronauts who will spend eight months conducting groundbreaking research and technology demonstrations. But here's where it gets exciting: this crew includes a spacecraft commander and pilot, as well as an ESA and Roscosmos specialist, bringing diverse expertise to the mission. And get this: the spacecraft has a fascinating history, having previously flown NASA's SpaceX Crew-4 and Crew-9 missions, as well as private astronaut missions Axiom Mission 2 and 3. So, what's in store for Crew-12? Well, they'll be joining the Expedition 74 crew already aboard the space station and conducting a range of science experiments that will advance research and technology for future Moon and Mars missions, while also benefiting life back on Earth. From studying pneumonia-causing bacteria to improving treatments, to on-demand intravenous fluid generation and automated plant health monitoring, this crew is set to make some serious scientific strides. But that's not all: they'll also be investigating plant and nitrogen-fixing microbe interactions to enhance food production in space and exploring how physical characteristics may affect blood flow during spaceflight. And as if that wasn't enough, support teams are hard at work, progressing through Dragon preflight milestones and preparing a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket booster for its second flight. So, stay tuned as we count down to launch and witness the incredible achievements of Crew-12!
