Aston Martin's Dramatic Spin: First Red Flag at F1's Final Pre-Season Test (2026)

A dramatic spin by Lance Stroll in his Aston Martin has triggered the first red flag of Formula 1's final pre-season test in Bahrain. This incident adds to the team's struggles, as they've already faced challenges, completing the fewest laps during last week's initial Bahrain test.

As Stroll approached Turn 11, the AMR26 suddenly veered left, resulting in the car being spat out into the gravel trap. Replays indicate that the car lost drive as Stroll attempted to downshift during braking for the corner.

The session was neutralized while the car was removed via a recovery crane, with the red flag lasting for seven minutes. This incident occurred just one hour into the second session on Wednesday.

Stroll's spin happened during his seventh lap of the session, following team-mate Fernando Alonso's impressive 28 laps in the morning. At the time of the red flag, Charles Leclerc's 1m33.739s time from the first session remained the fastest of the day.

Oscar Piastri, who took over for the second session, was the fastest driver, finishing fourth and just 1.821s behind Leclerc's time. Liam Lawson, Lewis Hamilton, and George Russell all completed a joint-best 15 laps after the lunch break.

Isack Hadjar, the only driver participating in both sessions on Wednesday, returned to the track for Red Bull after a limited 13 laps in the first session. Meanwhile, the Cadillac was the only car yet to return to the track at the time of the Stroll red flag, with Valtteri Bottas scheduled to take over from Sergio Perez, who completed 24 laps in the first session.

This incident highlights the ongoing difficulties faced by Aston Martin during pre-season testing, leaving many fans and experts wondering about their performance ahead of the new F1 season.

What do you think? Will Aston Martin be able to turn things around, or is this an early sign of a challenging season ahead? Share your thoughts in the comments!
